Materialisation in Art and DesignAlumni documentation 2019-04-29
Anne Büscher, alumni of finished Temporary Programme Materialisation in Art and Design (2015-2017) participated in the workshop Glass(s)elf from 25 February until 2 March 2019 at The Glass factory, Bodaglasbruk Sweden, initiated and hosted by Cathelijne Engelkes and Marcel van Kan (Oasis&Lagoon).
‘Glass(s)elf’, an exploratorial 6 days’ residency program together with students and professionals from different Dutch Academies; Artez Product Design Arnhem, Sandberg Institute, Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design Design Academy Eindhoven.
The Glass Factory, Boda Glasbruk in Sweden is a very special place with a unique language in the Swedish history of glass, located in the heart of the 'Kingdom of Crystal' Småland.
'We have been focusing on the artistic history of glass blowing, the familiar and unfamiliar nature of being an artist or designer in the very concept of crafts’
The focus during this week in which participants developed their own concept, was to experiment with glass in collaboration with the hot and cold workshop masters and assistants. They have been exploring the magic and history of glass through making, lectures, dialogues and field trips in the dreamy winter landscapes of Småland.
This resulted in diverse experimental “explosions” ranging from interior products to abstract objects and from performative acts of glassblowing to research the different properties of glass.
