Julien Thomas, alumni of finished Temporary Programme Designing Democracy (2014-2016), was interviewed about his work Conversation Balance that was exhibited at Dordty Art 2018 and at A Balancing Act at Kunsthal KAde 7 September 2018 - 6 January 2019
Julien Thomas brought his project Conversation Balance to DordtYart. A work in which he asks actors, musicians and spectators to interact on this round, balance-seeking platform. Big red elastic bands are attached to the construction of the building. The space pulls, pushes, is a counterbalance and plays with the balance of the platform. Julien describes the platform as "an interpersonal installation that explores the nature of political agency."
During his residency he will invite different groups of people for performances and conversations. Conversations with each other, with the hall and with the platform. He will develop the work and eventually the object will be rebuilt for the exhibition A Balancing Act at KAdE Amersfoort.
The Dordty Art 2018 programme also featured works by Kim Habers, alumni of Main Department Fine Arts 2007-2009 and Jan Kees van Kampen, Sandberg Instituut Medialab.
