Jaasir Linger | Gi Tori

Jaasir Linger, student of new Temporary Programme Blacker Blackness (2021–2023), presents documentation from the work Gi Tori (2021) on his website.

With the interdisciplinary installation Gi Tori, Linger criticizes the former colonial education system of The Netherlands. In Suriname, the former colony of The Netherlands, the Dutch language was used as the official language and Sranantongo was seen as inferior. The installation can be seen as a decolonization “statement-piece” that pays homage to the use of Sranantongo.
