Jimmy in Paradise
What we see on a screen is made of pixels. Pixels are squares of colors, that next to each other build the representation of our files, internet windows, photos, etc. In this research project, the pixels from an image are used as materials to create new shapes. Digital and more tangible manipulations are experimented and shown through a performance, its before and after. Jimmy in Paradise refers to an image used as an example to test the possibilities of the early editions of the Photoshop software. Named Jennifer in Paradise, this image with a topless woman on an idyllic beach is known as the ‘first photoshopped image’.
