Post photography

Post Photography is a performance with Data. It’s a work that looks at art trough the filter of Internet and most specifically through Instagram. The aim of this project was to explore the transformation an artwork undergoes when it’s being removed from its original location and intent, and enters the realm of Internet and the selfie culture. With the use of coding we scraped Instagram to find the most popular #art and analysed their physicality. We then used a technique called photogrammetry to reconstruct those artworks using only the images we had scraped. The result is a work that questions the detachment from art and its object in our image saturated landscape.
