Bracing Bodies

In this performance, I use wind, sand, and movement to explore the somatic impact of oppression and liberation. Spent parts of my youth wearing a body brace, I felt deeply confused and trapped in my not fully “abled” body in a Chinese society that stigmatized and marginalized certain bodies. Years of breathing and movement practice started to grieve and transform my pain and shame into grounding energy and helped me generate confidence and contentment in my body.
