Einn kemur þá annar fer, og allir ríða þeir skjótt um

The video is shot on a grassy, windy field in a classic Icelandic landscape and by installing the wind sound from the video with four speakers surrounding the exhibition space, and hey or turf on the floor of the space, the viewer can see, hear and smell the work and its surroundings - immerse themselves in the work. In the video, a man wearing a blue parka runs across the screen from right to left, from future through present to past, and is swiftly followed by a naked man who rides bareback on a horse. The man on the horse rides into the picture from the right, stopping the horse in the middle of the frame before continuing out of the frame at the left end. Shortly afterwards we see the man in the blue parka drag the horse, with the naked man on its back, back across the screen from left to right. A Tinderesque affair. The riders are hard to distinguish from one another as they are all equally naked and vulnerable as they ride through a cold, grey and windy Icelandic landscape. Some years ago I was talking to a couple of women in their 90s. When we had discussed love and courtship for a short while, one of them jogged my arm gently and asked if I had a husband. I said I didn’t. “But then you must have a boyfriend?”. I didn’t know how to best answer the question so I muttered some objections. Eventually, I said that I had had a few but that none had stuck around for a very long time. She laughed at my awkwardness and told me not to worry about that too much, she then grinned and said: “One comes as another goes, and they all ride swiftly.”
