Noplace: Co-founding

Noplace is a collaborative initiative founded in 2021 by me and five other designers to create maker, coworking, and exhibition spaces that foster community, solidarity, and networking. Our first 200 m² open space in Cologne’s city center combines coworking with community-building, offering a flexible and inclusive identity. Noplace reimagines coworking by encouraging members to share private property for communal use. With fixed costs covered by monthly contributions, events aren’t tied to rent, enabling non-profit initiatives and providing a platform for emerging artists without financial means. Rooted in art and design, Noplace aims to cultivate a transformative culture, fostering democratic principles beyond capital-driven interests. Open, urban spaces like ours are essential for enabling collaboration and driving meaningful societal change.

The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is an independent university of applied sciences with approximately 850 students. The Rietveld Academie offers the degree programme Art & Design which incorporates the various specialisations. The specialisations are led by coordinators who are responsible for the study programme and day-to-day affairs. In addition, the academy offers two master&aposs degrees and a variable number of temporary master&aposs programmes provided by the Sandberg Instituut.
