Rewriting the Future: Art, History, and Political Action

On March 11th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm the Dirty Art Department invites Mikołaj Sobczak to present a lecture at the Theory Stairs about "Rewriting the Future: Art, History, and Political Action". The lecture is free to be attended by students and non-students alike without registration needed.

Mikołaj Sobczak (b. 1989) is a visual artist who works primarily in painting, video and performance. His work engages with historical narratives, archives, and memory politics, often revisiting marginalized stories and characters. A graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and an alumni of the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, Sobczak has exhibited widely across Europe, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Kunsthalle Wien, HKW in Berlin and Ludwig Forum in Aachen. Sobczak’s practice frequently bridges the gap between art and activism, emphasizing the role of art as a force for political change.
