Adam Keïta | Martinican Poetry Will Be Cannibalistic Or Will Not Be

On April 17 we will be hosting a lecture by our Critical Studies student Adama Keïta titled "Martinican Poetry Will Be Cannibalistic Or Will Not Be". The lecture will take place at the Theory Stairs, FedLev Building, between 17h30 and 19h30 and is open to all. Wording from Martinican activist and writer Suzanne Roussi Césaire, this participative lecture by Adama Keïta is an exploration of language cannibalism and anti-doudouism politics through Afro-Martinican surrealism and poetry. Asserting resistance through non-linearity and imagination.

Adama Keïta, is an Indo-Guadeloupean, and Senegalese curator, writer, and researcher raised in Martinique. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Critical Studies at Sandberg Instituut where her thesis explores Martinican ( nation language ) as a tool for liberation, focusing on sonic/somatic practices and linguistic cannibalism. She is the Founding Director of Nianiba, a Martinique-based (im)material space, functioning as an artistic and cultural-research lab. Nianiba’s itinerant approach extends across borders with cultural-research projects in the Caribbean, Latin America and the African continent
From a curatorial paradigm, she specializes in sound, sculpture/installation performance art, political education and rooted pedagogy. Her written and spoken word practice blends Caribbean surrealism, vegetative poetry and responsiveness.
