Trucks Tales
The project, born between Geneva and Eindhoven, is presented as a duo: a ceramic collection paired with a paper publication, both inspired by the world of the truck and by the Dutch company DAF’s archives. Like a peculiar automotive atlas, it collects and presents a few samples of the Truck’s identity inviting you into the raw landscapes that trucks and lorries tirelessly traverse. The edition depicts situations that touch on the daily lives of trucks as we discover vehicles captured in nebulous contexts. The result is a playful gaze and approach to the image of the lorry. Somewhere between a zine, an image brochure and a comic, the publication takes a dreamy, truthful, yet amusing look at these monsters of the road. The ceramics invite the viewer to engage and link drawings with volume. Through a contemporary documentary approach that blends information, poetry and images, it aims to create a new cartography of the truck’s identity, it highlights geopolitical and environmental issues that are connected to trucks. The project was presented at the Swiss Design Awards 2024 in Basel Art. It was also nominated for the Prix d’Excellence 2023 of the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.
